  • Three Rivers Photography Assistants document activities, events, programs, landscapes, and wildlife around the Park District for promotional and marketing resources. The volunteer role is coordinated by the Three Rivers Photo and Video Media Specialist, who provides volunteer opportunities and shot lists.

    This volunteer position requires specialized skill including knowledge of how to use a camera as well as general understanding of photo composition. For this reason we ask that in the application process you submit a portfolio of 5 - 10 of your best photos and a short paragraph describing your interest in this position. Not all who apply to be a Photography Assistant will be chosen for this position.

    As a Photography Assistant you will be provided training on Three Rivers brand standards, general composition and layout, expectation for interacting with the public, how to sign up for photo shoots, and how to read shot sheets. You will also be asked to attend twice yearly meetings where position specific updates will be provided and some photo coaching will be available as desired. If selected, you will be expected to complete at least six photo shoot shifts per year. Photo shoot shifts can range from two to four hours.

    All photos taken while volunteering will be the property of Three Rivers Park District. As a Photography Assistant you will relinquish your rights to the photos taken while volunteering and may not sell them for profit, but you can use them for personal use, such as in your portfolio. When used in Three Rivers marketing materials, photographer credit will not be given. Cameras used for photo shoots must be able to take at least a 12-megapixel image. There are a limited number of Three Rivers cameras that can be checked out.
